{French Friday} C’est le Jour du Macaron

How sweet is that? What better way to usher in Spring than with a day indulging in these tasty yummies! Of course, it wasn’t created for this occasional specifically, but why not celebrate anyway?
Thanks to Kim Petyt for posting about it on her blog. According to Kim, the day was “created four years ago through a collaboration between renowned pastry chef Pierre Hermé and other members of the prestigious Association Relais Desserts, le Jour du Macaron raises money and awareness for the charity Federation des Maladies Orphelines.” So, all over France today, March 20th, the lucky French are probably popping into any participating patisserie to receive their scrumptious macarons — completely gratuit! I am so envious!
Ok, now I am having a serious dose of the travel bug. I must make my way up the peninsula to San Francisco soon and stop into Miette! Meanwhile, I will just have to share some details of my fave images (and memories) from my last Parisian stay. Happy Friday everyone and…oh, yes… Happy Macaron Day!
Love walking alongside the Seine.
The serene lighting inside the famed Notre Dame Cathedral.
Loved the energy from the lively (and crowded) streets of the Latin Quarters.
I became fascinated observing many art students painting replicas of master works of arts at the Louvre (don’t worry, they all had these special passes to prove that they had permission to do so!).
A slightly loud chuckle escaped by mouth when I happened upon it this art piece at the Centre Pompidou. Finding this image again still brings out a couple of chuckles!

I did enjoy my free macarons on March 20th and in one of the best patisserie on my town! I didn’t even know what day it was when I walked out the door but, oh boy, was I happy to not have missed it!!
